Painting At Night is a reflection of young motherhood as children emerge into adolescence and serves as both a sweet relief and an avenue for grief through the passage of time.  This series, consisting of 5 acrylic and oil pastel paintings on stretched canvas, created in the early winter months of 2024, represents what it is to remember, not regret.  While Motherhood is innate, loyal, and unyielding, it is also a position bound by responsibility.  One’s lesser self might grasp at it for sole survival, leaving trial and play smothered by expectation.  The act of painting at night is often the only option, but one that offers redemption.  It is a cross between a straight jacket and a swaddling cloth, holding both restraint and surrender.  Painting at night is accepting life on its own terms, and finding awe in what is.
